Rated 4 out of 5�by LRM333 soft and comfortable Jacket is soft and the merlot color is beautiful. It is a little snug across the bust but not noticeable or uncomfortable. The petite is the right length overall and in the arms. Collar is a little stiff even when the hood is taken off. Good transition jacket. Would have preferred a zipper rather than snaps. Hopefully the snaps will hold up, they seem pretty sturdy. November 4, 2014

If the jacket were true to size, it would be too large. I really liked the jacket, but was disappointed, October 31, 2014

Is the fabric water proof? Would it serve as a good raincoat?

I would describe it as water resistant. No problem if it gets wet and it will keep you dry in drizzle or in the rain running errands but I wouldn't wear it to spend prolonged time outdoors in a steady rain.

No I don't use it as a raincoat but it does keep you dry if you are caught in a rain or snow shower for a short time,

Does this jacket have snap down the front or buttons?

BEST ANSWER: Snaps, but they're sturdy, snap easily, and stylish button-like looking. (The snap covers on the black coat are black). It's a nice coat. I purchased one last year, another this year and getting ready to order the burgundy coat.

I don't think it's too short - it falls just below my hips. (I'm 5'5") I wear a small but typically get a medium size in a coat since I wear a lot of bulky sweaters in the fall/winter. It fits perfect.
